Tunnels & Underground Engineering
Drive shafts, stations, crossings and the temporary works that hold all of it up.

Every one of our engineers brings a unique perspective, and every project is the sum of those perspectives working together. Meet the disciplines behind the tunnels.
A tunnel is a multidisciplinary problem wearing a hole in the ground. Geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, construction managers, and the people who model all of it have to agree before a single metre of spoil comes out. That is why we organise around disciplines that talk to each other, not around silos that do not.
It also means the people you meet in your first week are the people you will be relying on in your tenth year — and the ones who will be asking you the questions that make your work better.

“Ultimately, what sets Hoffman Tunnels apart is its people, starting with strong leadership.”
Jason founded the firm in 2005 and still reviews the hard calls. He is a principal engineer with more than 25 years of underground design and construction experience, predominantly in rail transit, mining, highway, water supply and wastewater.
Drive shafts, stations, crossings and the temporary works that hold all of it up.
Read the ground first. Everything downstream depends on what the rock and soil are actually doing.
Design the load paths that carry a hundred years of traffic, pressure and earth.
Own the programme, the cost, and the safety of every shift underground.
Rehabilitate the pipelines under a running city without ever taking the street out.
Turn models, data and BIM into decisions you can defend on a Tuesday afternoon.
